Week 7 – Friday-Sunday

Fri 12th August – Sun 14th August 2005

Well we have a date for our first scan – 19th September 2005. I will be 12 weeks pregnant by then. I will also be a nervous wreck on that day, waiting to find out if everything is ok in there *points to tummy*

All this time I have been happily informing all around me that I have had absolutely no cravings at all. It wasn't until Friday morning, when I went into a brief mini-panic that I didn't have the 39p to buy my morning can of diet Irn-Bru, that I realised that perhaps I do have a craving after all.

Work was thankfully quiet on Friday and I mooched through the day fairly easily with a bit of typing and some photocopying. I had a very successful lunch break indeed - I used my accumulated Boots Advantage points to purchase four huge bottles of Palmolive bubble bath, four big packs of baby wipes (preparation…), some super duper luxury hair conditioner and some coconut spray conditioner. Then on my way back to the office I was given a promotional bag of some kind which contained, among other things, a free bottle of Appletiser, a free mini bottle of Amaretto (might have this intravenously administered during labour), some free moisturizer samples, some crisps, a Frusilli bar and a large packet of Knorr beef stock. Result!

I've been quite creative with what I can get for free - registering my Nectar card for London energy and my mobile phone company and ordering free nappy samples online etc. It's amazing just how much you can get for free when you put your mind to it. We’ve joined the Tesco Baby Club to get discount vouchers and the Boots Parenting club for free vouchers, information and a newborn Huggies starter kit. We’re even converting out Tesco clubcard vouchers for a free day out at London Zoo.

On Saturday we got started early with a swim at the gym before heading to Kent to my mum’s. Hubby, mum, my sis and I all went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have never eaten so much chocolate in one afternoon in all my life. Miriam Stoppard would surely give me a most disapproving look considering the lack of nutritional value in chocolate. Mind you Miriam also recommends we install a sink in the corner of the would-be nursery. *raises eyebrow*

On Saturday night, after dinner, Hubby, mum and I sat around chatting. Mum and Hubby got progressively more slurry and loud as the wine flowed, I just sipped my fizzy water and felt progressively more tired. It’s most unfair that without alcohol I still fall asleep first, sleep worst, go to the toilet five times a night and wake up aching and feeling slightly nauseous with a headache.

Today, that’s Sunday, we vegged, dodged spiders and sorted out a few baby toys in the loft, had a lovely spag bol and headed back to our flat. Another weekend over. But that means the end of another week! And tomorrow we enter week 8 of the pregnancy! Only four weeks or so until the 12 week mark and our first scan! AND this week I am only in work on Monday and Tuesday, the rest is annual leave so I can finally have a chance to stay at home, eat biscuits, drink tea and watch Location Location Location all day. Bliss.

Oh, I have attempted to set up an online Bump Watch photo diary - I'm not sure if it has worked or not but do try clicking here to try to see it and let me know how you get on!
