Week 23 – Monday-Sunday
Monday 28th November – Sunday 4th December 2005 Monday: Since when is it Monday again already? Feeling bloated and fat and beginning to get fed up with this whole being pregnant lark. Hubby and I cooked dinner together and watched Celebrities in the Jungle, then we exchanged anniversary gifts as we were too excited to wait until tomorrow. Hubby bought me an evening at the Sanctuary in Covent Garden - I get a treatment, free flip-flops, use of the pool and all the spa facilities like the steam room etc and supper with a glass of wine! Sounds very luxurious! I can't wait, but I will do it after the baby is born so I can indulge in the steam rooms and jacuzzis. Tuesday and Wednesday: Tuesday was a hard day. I was tired, irritated and crabby and I just wanted to be at home with Hubby being cozy on our two-year wedding anniversary. I snapped at everyone all day at work and I’m sure my colleagues were glad to get rid of me by the time I left. The evening was lovely, Hubby and I cooked a fish curry like we had on our honeymoon in the Maldives and we had Angel Delight for dessert – classy! We got loads of cards from friends and family and we spent a relaxing night chatting and reminiscing about the last two years. Unfortunately I was then up all night sick with heartburn, every time I lay down it felt as though my throat was filling up with fire. It was awful, I was so exhausted by the time morning came that I just called in sick to work, there was no way I could have got through the day. About an hour after calling in sick I had a bad colitis attack as well so it was just as well I hadn’t attempted to get into work. Hubby is off sick too, he has a chest, sinus and throat infection brought on by mould and damp in his office, he’s on strong antibiotics. We popped out to Primark and I bought myself a winter coat two sizes too big so that my bump can be kept warm throughout the winter months – it’s huge and it has a furry collar and hood and I feel like a pimp wearing it. We then spent the rest of the day sleeping – what a pathetic pair of sicklies we are! In the evening Hubby pumped up the exercise ball he had bought me earlier in the week. It’s apparently very comfy to sit on whilst pregnant and you know what? It’s marvellous fun too! I sat for an hour just bouncing up and down on it! Thursday: Returning to work today I still felt a bit drained from the day before. Hubby and I arranged to drive down to Kent tomorrow evening to have a take-away with my mum and sister. It'll be the only chance we get to see them before Christmas, which still seems an eternity away. Friday: Friday at last! Another work week over. And at last I seem to be making a dent in the workload, fingers crossed by this time next week things might be a whole lot less stressful. I had a horrible colitis attack at around 4pm, so spent the last half hour at work back and forward to the loo feeling like death. By the time Hubby picked me up from the station I was exhausted, but extremely happy to be heading to Kent. So with a can of diet coke in hand and with hubby driving along chatting about his day at work I could finally start to relax after a hard fortnight at work. We had a chinese with my mum and sister and a real giggle watching Christmas Number Ones on VH1. Mum and Hubby had a little too much to drink and I probably ate far too many biccies with my caffieine-free tea, lovely. We all chatted about names for the baby and my sister tried talking to it, but every time she started speaking it stopped moving! I think it's slightly scared of her! Saturday: I went shopping with my mum and she bought me some gorgeous indigo blue maternity jeans in Dorothy Perkins. We had a browse around the shops, bought some cocoa butter moisturiser for my bump in the Body Shop and a jumper for Hubby in Primark, then it was home for bacon sarnies and, of course, more tea and biscuits. Hubby and I drove home in the afternoon, we had intended to put up the tree that afternoon but we were so exhausted that we just pulled the duvet into the living room and vegged out in front of Strictly Come Dancing and the X-Factor. Very relaxing! Sunday: On Sunday we finally got the Christmas tree up! Our tree is great - a fake six foot fir tree, all bushy and fluffy and big. We covered it in gold and red baubles and beads and added our newest tin santa decorations. It looks great, really really great. I am feeling very festive indeed. Three weeks until Christmas…
