Week 24 – Monday-Sunday
Monday 5th December – Sunday 11th December 2005 Monday: I have focused so long on getting to twenty-four weeks that I kind of forgot there were weeks beyond it, so this morning I suddenly realized that by this time next week I’ll be in week twenty-five – just fifteen weeks away from having an actual baby. Gulp. Tuesday: I can't stop crying. I cried nearly all evening and kept having to get hugs from Hubby. He eventually made me a hot milk with nutmeg, that helped and sent me to sleep. I think my hormones must be playing up. Watching "I Am Sam" didn't help of course, very moving film. My tummy is looking more pregnant, though I am still not satisfied that it doesn't just look like the result of too many Chocolate Oranges (my latest obsession.) The baby is kicking pretty hard now and it's comforting to feel her moving around in there. Wednesday: Some numpty blocked our car in. Parked right in front of us in the carpark! What an idiot, honestly, who DOES that? Hubby got us out in a million-point-turn and dropped me at the station only for me to discover that there was no central line running. Great. Left with no other option Hubby came back and got me then dropped me in North London to get the tube from there. Not one person offered me a seat the whole way in - I have never seen so many people pretend to fall asleep, it's astonishing. I eventually got in just after 9am, over half an hour late, frazzled and exhausted. Not a good start to the day. Is it Christmas yet? Thursday: My tummy seems to have expanded by about an inch over the course of the day. By 4.30pm I looked down and there appeared to be a small football up my jumper. I did not feel well today. I don't know if it's hormones or strange bodily changes or what but I just felt generally under-the-weather all day. Tired, scratchy, hot, bothered, nauseas. I am still struggling with the whole "slowing down" thing. Today I was in work at 8am, had been in a meeting and completed two sets of minutes by 11am and by 1pm I had been to Aldgate Post Office (queued for half an hour, why have fourteen tills and only three open two weeks before Christmas?!), bought lunch, got biscuits for my afternoon meeting and was on my way to Stockwell. Then after my meeting it was a rush to Tesco, groceries, Christmas presents, home, washing, tidying up... I know I need to chill out, it's just finding the time to do so. Friday: Woke up early today just after 5am when the old man upstairs began his usual early morning thumping about. I think I must be sleeping quite lightly. My bump has grown again overnight. People kept telling me it would suddenly grow and I didn’t believe them, but they were right, cool! I was very ill with my colitis for about an hour but recovered in enough time to get round to visit Fairy and her boyfriend for a DELICIOUS lasagne (I had two helpings thanks very much.) Saturday and Sunday: We left early on Saturday morning to head up to Norfolk to spend the weekend with Hubby’s mum and step-dad (and crazy sheepdog Jack.) We stocked up on M&Ms for the journey and we were blasting up the M11 with Christmas choons blaring by 9am, it’s a picturesque journey up to Norfolk and everything was covered in frost so I was feeling quite festive. We spent the afternoon and evening chilling out with Hubby’s mum and step-dad and playing with the dog. We were shocked with the X-Factor result and I am protesting by not watching next week’s final, HA, that’ll learn ‘em. Whilst getting undressed for bed I spotted myself in the mirror and noticed that my belly had expanded even more, it now seems to begin just below my (huge) boobies and just keep going. When did that happen? On Sunday we drank many cups of tea and took Crazy Jack the sheepdog for a walk. We left Hubby’s mum’s just after lunch laden with Christmas presents and stopped in for some more tea with his Dad and step-mum on the way home. There we collected more pressies and the moses basket that Hubby had when he was a baby (see Bumpwatch) before joining a nice fat queue of traffic on the M11 home (we thought it might have been because of the oil explosion in North London but it turned out to be a couple of numpties who had driven themselves into the central reservation.) And so it is AT LAST the end of another week. Week 25 begins tomorrow and I have 9 working days left before Christmas, lovely.
