Week 31 - Saturday and Sunday Saturday 28th January - Sunday 29th January 2006 We had a lovely weekend. We drove down to Kent on Friday night with loads of junk to store in the loft at my mum's, thus clearing space in the spare-room to convert it into a nursery. We got a nice early night and slept in on Saturday morning until about 8.30am without the usual barrage of interruptions we get in our flat (neighbours hoovering at 6am, the banging sounds of DIY from upstairs, people stomping up and down the corridors etc.) Hubby and I had some breakfast (home made muffins, mmm!) and then went to Babies R Us and Mothercare at Lakeside. We came away with a baby bouncer and a Tomy baby carrier from Mothercare, plus a couple of baby sponges and a bright purple monkey which we named Boris. I LOVE the baby bouncer, it is so sweet. It's yellow with giraffes, elephants and hippos on it, it has a little bar that attaches to it with a giraffe ("mini-Gary"), hippo ("Harry") and an elephant("Dave") dangling from it, and the whole thing vibrates when you flick a switch. It's really nice and simple, but really adorable, just what I had in mind (picture on Bumpwatch.) The baby carrier was something that Hubby was really wanting. We want to be able to get out and about for walks and shopping trips etc without a pram, and Hubby was really keen to get one of these strap-on baby carriers so he could cart the baby around. We saw all the Dads using them in Uzes in the South of France when we were there in September and we thought they were great. Hubby has been practising by carrying Boris around in it. On Saturday night my mum, my sister and I went to see the St Petersburg Ballet's Swan Lake. I've never been to the ballet before I hate going to the theatre (I don't even like the cinema much) but this was amazing and I loved it! It was just brilliant, the dancers were amazing. I did feel like the Thames Whale as I sat scoffing chocolate from a bag resting on my huge stomach whilst tiny Russian girls in white feathers pranced lightly about though. My little girl was kicking furiously all the way through. Every time the orchestra struck up she would start wriggling and kicking like mad - I think she must love the sound of the music! Either that or she was enjoying the white chocolate sweeties her mummy was munching! I am really enjoying feeling her move, it's one of the very few things I have enjoyed about being pregnancy. I hate to say it but I am not exactly an Earth-mother type who enjoys and is glowing through pregnancy, in fact I've found it tiring and sometimes frightening and debilitating. I guess some people just aren't good at being pregnant! Although people have commented that I look "blooming" - though this could be another word for bloated!! I had weird dreams about ballet dancers all night and had another lovely lie in on Sunday morning. I spent Sunday mooching about doing very little, I found that once again I had very little energy. I was also extremely uncomfortable as the baby appears to have had another growth spurt, my stretch-marks actually hurt (they feel like sunburn, none of the books warned of this!) and my clothes are increasingly tight. My mum took me to Primark and bought me a couple of pairs of large jogging bottoms - as soon as I put them on at home I was in heaven. They are soooo comfortable!! I wish I could wear them to work! As it was my sister's birthday we had a roast dinner followed by birthday cake, then we all watched the football (Hubby wanted to see the Liverpool game) and I had a bath to try and ease my aching limbs and my hurting stretchmarks. Hubby and I drove home and watched Top Gear before collapsing into bed at 10am and passing out. I think Hubby has caught my habitual tiredness!
