Week 34 – Wednesday-Thursday

Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th February 2006:

Wednesday:
Well Wednesday was lovely. Didn't have to get up, had a leisurely morning working from home and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen thoroughly before soaking in the bath with a magazine and a Norah Jones CD. Aaaaaaaaaaah.

The antenatal class in the afternoon was so boring though. It was on breastfeeding and the midwife taking the class was lovely, very personable, but it was just really pointless really. Nothing we didn't already know. I'm glad next week is our last one, we only go out of a sense of obligation but I think we've read so much already there's not much point.

Baby girl is quite active, keeps wriggling about and shifting - it sometimes feels quite strange. She also keeps getting hiccups, bless her. And she always moves when Hubby sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star into my belly.

I am now even more enormous (really must put up some pictures soon) and getting out of bed is the latest problem area. Our bed is quite low down so shifting my mammoth bulk out of it is no easy feat. I am awake most nights from around 3am until 5am, then I fall into a deep sleep only to be woken at 6am by the alarm. Pah. And the dreams! Oh my goodness, I am plagued by weird-ass dreams every night covering every subject imaginable (and a lot unimaginable!)

The nursery is finally complete and Hubby managed to drills into the Walls of Steel after about an hour in order to get the curtain rail up. Now all we need to do is get rid of his football kit and I can take a picture to show you. It looks fabulous, pity it'll only be in use for four or five months! Still, it's worth having it nice and it only cost us the price of a pot of paint - we already had everything else we needed to decorate.

Thursday:
Back in the office today and getting a ton of stuff done - I want to clear my desk of loads of niggly bits by the end of this week so that I can start to slack off a bit. My brain is too soaked in hormones to function in a normal way and I need to be able to sit and gaze into space, or just work on my handover notes without the interruption of having to do any actual work.

Tonight I am off to see my homeopath (or witch-doctor as Hubby calls him) for my six weekly check-up. I'm going to speak to him about some remedies to take when I am in labour. I have also been collecting the essential oils I am going to use - I'm using Nerolli, Clary Sage and Lavender. I'm going to make up a facial spray and a massage oil and keep a few drops of each on flannels to inhale (don't worry, I shall not be scattering petals and listening to whale music...)
